Job summary

Omnia Group’s BME Newcastle site seeks an Operations Manager to oversee storage and supply chain activities for explosives in South Africa. The role focuses on planning, resource management and ensuring safety and compliance across operations, while coordinating with the Area Manager and leadership.

You will manage the operations team, maintain assets, and drive process improvement to support customer needs and company objectives.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mining, Mechanical or Explosives Engineering is required.
• Must be proficient in MS Office and reporting tools.
• Blasting Certificate MQA and Advanced Blasting course are required.
• 3–5 years of fleet administration experience in mining or related field.
• Experience with D365, SharePoint and third‑party tracking systems.
• Strong knowledge of safety, compliance and regulatory standards for explosives.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operations planning and financial management to meet objectives.
• Manage stock, orders, shipping, and related costs to optimise the supply chain.
• Ensure compliance with Mine Health and Safety Act and OHS Act; lead SHERQ initiatives.
• Lead HR processes, development, and performance management for the team.
• Maintain equipment, vehicles and assets; implement maintenance plans.
• Develop policies and processes for operational excellence and continuous improvement.
• Analyse market trends to forecast demand and adjust operations accordingly.
• Coordinate with senior management to align operations with company goals and customer needs.
• Prepare and present regular reports on performance, safety and financial metrics.
