Responsibilities

• Ensure routes are efficiently planned and executed.
• On-site presence on the warehouse floor each morning to oversee operations.
• Supervise drivers and support staff.
• Handle staff discipline and performance-related matters.
• Monitor parcels movement and prevent missing freight; complete daily parcel control and missing-parcel reports.
• Liaise with the office regarding collections and deliveries; provide updates on collection times and freight deliveries.
• Resolve daily operational and route-related issues; monitor staff performance.
• Ensure company procedures are followed; own the daily operational workflow.

About the Position

Midvaal Recruitment is currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established third-party courier and logistics company operating throughout the Vaal Triangle.

Our client has been operating successfully for almost 23 years and provides courier and logistics services to major courier companies and corporate clients. The business handles time-sensitive freight ranging from small parcels to palletised deliveries, as well as chain-store back-door deliveries.

We are seeking a hands-on and experienced Operations Manager to take responsibility for the company's day-to-day operational activities.

This is a high-intensive operational management position suited to an individual who thrives in a fast-paced transport and logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee all daily operational activities.

• Plan and coordinate approximately 22 delivery routes throughout the Vaal Triangle.

• Plan truck routes and chain-store delivery routes.

• Ensure routes are efficiently planned and executed.

• Be present on the warehouse floor every morning to oversee daily operations.

Requirements

• Previous experience in transport, courier, logistics, fleet or distribution operations.
