Placements24 is seeking an experienced Mine Planning Engineer for our client in Mossel Bay, Western Cape. You will lead short- and long-term open-pit mine planning, design pit shells, ramps, haul roads, and dumps, and develop production schedules and material movement plans.

You will leverage Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac, and Whittle to integrate geology and geotechnical constraints into robust plans. The role requires 8+ years in mine planning, strong analytics, excellent communication, and SA

Qualifications

• 8+ years' experience in mine planning, open-pit focus.
• Strong knowledge of Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac and Whittle.
• Familiar with South African mining regulations and SAIMM/ECSA registration.

Responsibilities

• Develop short- and long-term mine plans for open-pit operations.
• Generate pit designs, ramps, haul roads and dump areas.
• Create detailed production schedules and material movement plans.
• Utilize Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac and Whittle for design and scheduling.
• Integrate geological models, geotechnical constraints and equipment capabilities.
• Conduct economic evaluations and sensitivity analyses of mine plans.
• Monitor plan execution and adjust to optimize performance.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Prepare mine planning reports and visualizations for management.
