On-site role in Paarl

Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Resident Engineer to oversee the construction of a major infrastructure project in Paarl, Western Cape. You will be the on-site point of contact, monitoring progress, conducting inspections, and certifying payments in line with designs and quality standards.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in on-site civil supervision, knowledge of FIDIC, and strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

Degree in Civil Engineering (National Diploma or Bachelor's).
5+ years as Resident Engineer or site supervisor.
Experience supervising roads, water, or sewer reticulation projects.
Knowledge of FIDIC or standard contract conditions.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

Supervise and manage all aspects of civil infrastructure construction on site.
Ensure adherence to project designs, specifications, and quality control procedures.
Monitor site progress, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions.
Conduct regular site inspections and quality assurance checks.
Review and approve construction methodologies and temporary works designs.
Manage site personnel, including foremen and inspectors.
Certify interim and final payments based on work completed.
Liaise with the contractor, client, and design team to resolve site issues.
Maintain detailed site records, including daily reports and progress photos.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations on site.
