Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Resident Engineer to oversee municipal infrastructure upgrade projects in Vereeniging, Gauteng. The role involves on-site supervision, quality control, and contract administration to ensure delivery to high standards of quality, safety, and performance.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, be a registered Professional Engineer with ECSA, and bring at least 10 years of post-graduate civil experience, including 5 years

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA is essential.
• Minimum 10 years post-graduate experience in civil engineering, with at least 5 years in site supervision.
• Experience managing municipal infrastructure projects (water, sanitation, roads).
• In-depth knowledge of FIDIC, GCC or other standard contracts.
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lead site supervision teams and maintain good stakeholder relationships.
• Proficiency in project management and contract administration software.
• Willingness to reside or travel to Vereeniging, Gauteng.

Responsibilities

• Provide full‑time on‑site supervision and contract administration for municipal projects.
• Ensure works conform to contract documents, designs, and specs.
• Monitor and manage material and workmanship quality; conduct inspections and testing.
• Oversee contractors and subcontractors to meet schedule and budget.
• Review and approve submittals, method statements, and payment certificates.
• Maintain site records: diaries, progress reports, QC documentation.
• Address site queries, technical issues, and contractual disputes promptly.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Communicate effectively with client, contractor, design team, and stakeholders.
• Mentor and manage the site supervision team fostering collaboration.
