Placements24 is seeking a Lead Drilling Fluids Engineer for an on-site role in Tembisa, Gauteng. You will oversee drilling fluid programs across multiple sites, ensuring safety, environmental compliance, and optimal wellbore performance in oil and gas operations.
The role requires 7+ years in drilling fluids with leadership experience, a Chemical Engineering or related degree, and HPHT exposure is desirable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field.
- 7+ years in drilling fluids engineering with lead/supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of drilling fluid systems, properties, and additives.
- HPHT drilling experience desirable.
- Strong leadership and decision-making under pressure.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement drilling fluid programs for various projects.
- Supervise drilling fluids technicians and junior engineers on-site.
- Conduct site visits to monitor fluid performance and adjust properties.
- Troubleshoot drilling fluid problems and implement solutions.
- Manage inventory and procurement of drilling fluids chemicals and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Collaborate with engineers and geologists to optimize operations.
- Prepare reports on fluid performance, inventory, and costs.
