Placements24 is seeking an experienced Industrial Engineering Manager for a major industrial conglomerate in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. You will lead the process design and optimization division and drive operational excellence across multiple business units.

This is a full-time, on-site leadership role requiring a strong background in Lean Six Sigma, project management, and automation. You will mentor engineers, manage capital projects, and ensure safety, quality, and sustainability align

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in industrial engineering, with at least 3-5 years in a management or team lead role.
• Proven expertise in process design, simulation, Lean Six Sigma (Master Black Belt certification highly desirable), and project management.
• Demonstrated success in leading complex engineering projects and driving significant operational improvements in a large industrial setting.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, automation technologies, and operational best practices.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to think strategically and translate business needs into executable engineering plans.
• Proficiency in process simulation software, ERP systems, and data analysis tools.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, as this is a mandatory on-site position.
• A strong commitment to safety, quality, and environmental responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the entire lifecycle of industrial process design, from conceptualization to implementation and ongoing optimization.
• Lead and manage a team of industrial engineers, providing mentorship, setting performance goals, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
• Develop and execute strategic initiatives to enhance production efficiency, reduce operational costs, and improve product quality.
• Implement advanced methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, and TOC to drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure adherence to stringent safety, environmental, and quality standards across all operational processes.
• Collaborate with senior management, R&D, and operations teams to align process improvements with business objectives and new product introductions.
• Manage capital expenditure projects related to process upgrades and automation.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive process documentation, including P&IDs, SOPs, and technical specifications.
• Analyze operational data to identify trends, performance gaps, and opportunities for innovation.
• Represent the industrial engineering department in cross-functional project teams and steering committees.
