Placements24 is seeking a Field Service Technician for Soweto, Gauteng. You will install, service, and repair a range of commercial kitchen appliances, including ovens, grills, refrigeration, and dishwashers.

The role requires hands-on troubleshooting, strong customer service, and the ability to work independently. Key duties include diagnosing electrical, mechanical, and gas issues, reading schematics, maintaining service records, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Relevant trade qualification (e.g., Refrigeration, Mechanical Technician) or equivalent demonstrable experience.
• Strong diagnostic and repair skills across electrical, mechanical and refrigeration systems.
• Ability to read technical manuals and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair commercial kitchen appliances.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and gas-related issues on various equipment.
• Read schematics and service diagrams to guide repairs.
• Complete service work to manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
• Maintain accurate service records and history of parts used and labour.
• Manage parts inventory and service vehicle stock.
• Communicate clearly with clients about actions and recommendations.
• Respond promptly to service calls and resolve issues on-site.
• Adhere to safety protocols for gas and electrical systems.
• Identify opportunities for additional service or equipment upgrades.
