Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Field Operations Superintendent to lead all upstream field activities in Upington, SA. You will oversee production, maintenance, and safety programs, ensuring reliable and compliant operations while driving performance and cost efficiency.

The role requires a strong background in petroleum/mechanical engineering, 10+ years in upstream operations, and at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 10 years upstream Oil & Gas field ops, with at least 5 years in supervision.
• Proven track record leading diverse field teams.
• Strong knowledge of production operations, artificial lift, well testing, and facilities.
• Solid understanding of HSE regulations and budgets.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage daily upstream field operations across production and maintenance.
• Ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all production equipment and facilities.
• Develop and implement operational plans, budgets, and performance targets.
• Lead, mentor, and develop field supervisors, technicians, and operators.
• Oversee maintenance and integrity programs to minimize downtime.
• Enforce HSE policies and procedures.
• Manage operational costs and seek efficiency improvements.
• Collaborate with engineering, drilling, and reservoir teams to optimize field performance.
• Conduct site inspections and performance reviews.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
