Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Research Scientist to join their Biotechnology team in Port Elizabeth. This on-site role focuses on laboratory-based research to discover and develop biotechnological solutions and advance the company's pipeline.

You will design molecular biology, cell biology, and biochemistry experiments, develop novel assays, analyze data, and collaborate across teams, while maintaining meticulous lab records and preparing technical reports.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or related life science.
2–4 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in a research setting.
Proficiency in PCR, ELISA, cell culture, and Western blotting.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
On-site laboratory work in Port Elizabeth.

Responsibilities

Design and execute experiments in molecular biology, cell biology, and biochemistry.
Develop and optimize novel biotechnological assays and protocols.
Analyze experimental data and interpret results to guide further research.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance research projects from concept to validation.
Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records and prepare technical reports.
