Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Research Assistant for a vibrant Molecular Biology laboratory in Mahikeng. This hands-on role supports groundbreaking projects through precise experimental execution and meticulous data management in a state-of-the-art facility.

You will work closely with Principal Investigators and researchers, performing DNA/RNA techniques, designing experiments, and maintaining thorough notebooks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in a life science field (Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or related).
• 3–5 years hands-on molecular biology laboratory experience.
• Proficiency in standard molecular biology techniques and lab practices.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate record-keeping.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team.
• Good communication skills to convey experimental progress and findings.

Responsibilities

• Perform DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, cloning, and gel electrophoresis.
• Assist in experimental design and execution, following protocols and troubleshooting issues.
• Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks and records of procedures and results.
• Prepare reagents, solutions, and media for experiments.
• Manage inventory, order supplies, and maintain equipment.
• Contribute to data analysis and preparation of reports and presentations.
