Placements24 is seeking a Network Engineer with a strong security focus to join the infrastructure team in Queenstown. You will design, implement and maintain a secure, reliable network infrastructure supporting operations.

Responsibilities include performance, security, incident response and documentation. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's or equivalent, 3+ years in network engineering with security emphasis, and hands-on experience with firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or IT or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years in network engineering with a security focus.
• Proficiency with TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF and Cisco/Juniper hardware.
• Hands-on firewall, IDS/IPS and VPN experience.
• Understanding of network security principles and best practices.
• Certs such as CCNA/CCNP or CompTIA Network+ are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure and manage network infrastructure incl. routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs.
• Implement and maintain network security measures per policy.
• Monitor performance, identify bottlenecks, optimize traffic for high availability.
• Troubleshoot outages and perform root-cause analysis.
• Develop and maintain network diagrams, configurations and procedures.
• Stay current with networking tech and security trends.
