Overview

Were on the lookout for a skilled and motivated individual to join our growing Plant Maintenance and Facilities Team at Heaton TrainCare Centre. If you\'re a mechanical or electrical expert with a passion for troubleshooting and keeping things running smoothly this could be your next exciting challenge!

Role details: Engineering function, Fleet Level 4, salary 46194 per annum, on-site role, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday early/late day shifts.

Responsibilities
  • Problem Solving: Diagnosing and fixing issues quickly to keep equipment running at top performance. Conduct fault finding and root cause analysis to keep machinery at peak performance.
  • Teamwork: Collaborating with colleagues across the TrainCare Centre to maintain safety and efficiency at the highest levels.
  • Hands-on Work: Performing regular services, maintenance and repairs to ensure plant machinery is always in top shape. From regular maintenance to emergency repairs, no two days will be the same.
  • Safety Focus: Ensuring work is done safely and in compliance with rules and regulations while supporting the team in achieving daily targets.
  • Development: Opportunities to learn and grow as engineering skill sets develop within the team.
Requirements
  • Technically Skilled: You have a Level 3 NVQ or a recognised apprenticeship in Engineering and strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Adaptable and Resilient: You thrive under pressure, handling emergency repairs and unexpected challenges.
  • Self-Motivated: You\'re ready to take the initiative and ensure equipment is available and operational for all team members.
  • Flexible: You\'re able to work extended shifts if required, including weekends and Bank Holidays.

Please note this role is safety critical and is subject to Rail Safety & Standards Board (RSSB) regulations. You MUST meet the following criteria for this position or your application will be automatically rejected:

  • Currently live within a 45-minute car journey from the station you work from.
  • Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
  • Pass the safety critical medical assessment including drugs and alcohol screening.
  • Not have defective colour vision.
