Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Building Systems Maintenance Engineer for Mossel Bay, Western Cape. The role focuses on ensuring reliable operation of HVAC, electrical, plumbing and fire safety systems across our facilities.

The ideal candidate will diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex building infrastructure, plan preventive maintenance, and coordinate with facility management and external contractors to uphold high standards of safety and tenant comfort.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Minimum 5 years in building systems maintenance or similar roles.
Experience with HVAC, electrical, plumbing and fire safety systems.

Responsibilities

Oversee maintenance and repair of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and security.
Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs.
Diagnose system malfunctions and implement solutions.
Respond to emergency maintenance requests with minimal disruption.
Supervise external contractors and maintenance staff.
Review and approve maintenance work orders.
Maintain records of maintenance activities and performance data.
Ensure compliance with codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
Assist in planning minor upgrades and renovations.
Conduct regular site inspections to identify risks.
