Job summary

City of Tshwane is seeking a Librarian (Mobile Library Operations) on a three-year fixed-term contract to manage a mobile library and information service, and to foster reading culture through diverse programmes.

Requirements include a three-year library-related degree or diploma, LIASA registration to be an advantage, two years of relevant experience, a valid driving licence with PrDP and computer literacy with SirsiDynix Symphony. A criminal record check is required.

Qualifications

• Three-year career-related tertiary qualification in Library and Information Science or related field.
• Registration with LIASA is advantageous.
• Two years of relevant library experience; supervisory experience is an advantage.
• Valid EC1/C1.04 or EC/C driving licence with PrDP; practical driving test required.
• Computer literacy and library system proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Execute policy and systems of the City of Tshwane.
• Apply technical support and budget administration.
• Manage and supervise the travelling library service and staff.
• Conduct performance evaluations for subordinates.
• Initiate community involvement and outreach programmes.
• Manage the fleet for the unit.
• Procure and manage information collections for the unit.
