Job summary

Placements24, on behalf of our mining client in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, seeks a Senior Electrical Maintenance Engineer to ensure reliability, safety and efficiency of electrical infra. You will plan and execute maintenance strategies, lead technicians, and troubleshoot complex issues.

The role covers HV/LV systems, switchgear, transformers, motors, PLCs, VSDs; you will drive RCA, manage spares, participate in upgrades, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or B.Tech in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current) required.
• 7+ years in electrical maintenance, industrial/mining environment preferred.
• Strong knowledge of HV/LV systems incl. switchgear, transformers, motors & generators.
• Experience with PLC, VSDs and industrial control systems.
• Ability to read/interp electrical schematics and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and oversee electrical maintenance programs (preventive, predictive, corrective).
• Lead and manage a team of electrical maintenance technicians; provide guidance.
• Troubleshoot and repair complex HV/LV equipment, motors, control systems and power distribution.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, policies and electrical codes (OHS Act, SANS).
• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent solutions.
• Manage spare parts inventory and ensure critical components are available.
• Participate in upgrades and capital projects for electrical infrastructure.
• Maintain maintenance records and generate performance reports.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and safety departments.
