Job summary

University of Fort Hare is seeking an experienced Construction Supervisor for mining projects in the North West region. The role involves supervising on-site construction activities, coordinating contractors and workforce, and ensuring safety, quality and progress against project schedules.

The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years of mining construction supervision experience, strong knowledge of earthworks and civil methods, and the ability to read engineering drawings and oversee multiple

Qualifications

• Minimum 5-8 years’ experience in construction supervision within the mining environment.
• Mining experience is essential.
• Experience supervising earthworks, civil construction, mining infrastructure, TSF, WRD or related mining projects.
• Experience working within an operational mining environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day‑to‑day construction activities on mining projects.
• Ensure construction work is completed according to approved drawings, specifications, scope of work and project schedules.
• Supervise earthworks, excavations, embankments, roads, drainage, TSF, WRD and associated mining infrastructure.
• Monitor daily construction progress and ensure work fronts remain productive.
• Conduct regular site inspections and identify construction issues requiring attention.
