Job summary

University of Fort Hare is seeking a Construction Supervisor – Civil for a major mining project in Postmasburg, Northern Cape. You will lead civil contractors, supervise earthworks, concrete, roads and drainage, ensure safety, quality and on-time handover, and coordinate with engineering and operations teams.

Requirements include a National Diploma or BTech in Civil Engineering, 8 years of civil construction experience in mining, and registration with a relevant body.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or equivalent in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• Minimum 8 years' civil construction experience in mining or heavy industrial projects.
• Experience supervising earthworks, concrete, roads, drainage and buried services.
• Ability to interpret issued-for-construction drawings and method statements.
• Valid South African driver's license and medical fitness certificate.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily civil construction activities and coordinate crews.
• Review work packs, drawings and method statements.
• Verify readiness of workfront with approved drawings and permits.
• Monitor progress, quality and adherence to safety standards.
• Provide field input into constructability reviews.
• Maintain site records and support contract administration.
