This is a critical leadership role responsible for the overall management and performance of the mining operation. You will oversee all aspects of production, safety, personnel, and resource management to ensure the achievement of strategic objectives and operational targets. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership acumen, a deep understanding of underground mining methods and operational efficiencies, and a proven track record in managing large, diverse teams. This is an on-site position requiring a dedicated and results-oriented individual.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all day-to-day mining operations, ensuring safety, productivity, and efficiency.
• Develop and implement strategic operational plans aligned with company goals.
• Oversee the management of mine personnel, including recruitment, training, performance management, and industrial relations.
• Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
• Manage operational budgets, cost control, and optimize resource allocation.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, maintenance, geology, and other departments to ensure integrated operations.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance and reduce costs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related technical field.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mine operations management, with a significant focus on underground mining within the mining industry.
• Proven experience in managing large operational teams and complex mine environments.
• Strong understanding of various underground mining methods, mine planning, and equipment operations.
• Excellent leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Knowledge of relevant South African mining legislation and best practices.
• Experience in managing operational budgets and cost controls.
• Valid Blasting Certificate or equivalent qualification is essential.
