Placements24 in Welkom, Free State, seeks an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to maintain and repair mining equipment and plant infrastructure. You will diagnose faults, perform preventative tasks, and ensure safe operation of electrical systems on site.

The role requires a qualified electrician with at least 5 years in heavy industry, strong schematic literacy, and hands-on PLC/diagnostic experience. A safety-first mindset and teamwork are essential for success on site.

Qualifications

• Qualified Electrician with a relevant trade certification such as NQF Level 3.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical maintenance, preferably in mining/heavy industry.
• Proficient reading of electrical diagrams, schematics and blueprints.
• Experience with AC/DC motors, control panels and power distribution.
• Knowledge of PLCs is advantageous and familiarity with lockout/tagout procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical maintenance and repair on mining equipment and plant infrastructure.
• Diagnose electrical faults using testing equipment and interpret schematics.
• Conduct preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Install and commission new electrical equipment and systems.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
• Troubleshoot control systems, motors, and power distribution networks.
• Maintain detailed maintenance records including parts and labor.
• Collaborate with mechanical teams to integrate services.
• Respond promptly to electrical emergencies and breakdowns.
• Participate in safety training and promote on-site safety culture.
