Job summary

Qualifications

• B.Sc./B.Tech./National Diploma in Surveying or equivalent is required.
• Professional registration or eligibility to register with SA body is required.
• Drone/UAV surveying certification is required.
• 5–10 years’ surveying experience, with at least 3 years in mining/quarry/open-pit operations.
• Experience with production and stockpile surveys.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain survey control points and networks at each quarry.
• Provide survey support for quarry development, mine planning, and face and bench control.
• Carry out independent production and stockpile surveys and reconciliations.
• Establish a standardised Group-wide stockpile measurement system.
• Support drilling and blasting—setting out drill patterns and recording drilled positions.
• Maintain digital terrain models and survey databases for resource and reserve management.
• Provide surveying for rehabilitation, environmental reporting, and infrastructure and civil works.
• Establish and maintain a Group Survey Standard applicable to all quarry operations.

Mine Surveyor job vacancy in Durbanville, Cape Town.

A newly created Mine Surveyor role with a dynamic mining and quarrying company based in Durbanville.

You will have the opportunity to set up the survey function across their operations in South Africa, working closely with Engineering, HSE, Finance and with the Quarry Managers to make sure planned and actual mining works together operationally and financially.

This role reports directly to the COO.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Establish and maintain survey control points and control networks at each quarry
• Provide survey support for quarry development, mine planning, and face and bench control
• Carry out independent production and stockpile surveys and reconciliations
• Establish a standardised Group‑wide stockpile measurement system
• Support drilling and blasting — setting out drill patterns and recording drilled positions
• Maintain digital terrain models and survey databases for resource and reserve management
• Provide surveying for rehabilitation, environmental reporting, and infrastructure and civil works
• Establish and maintain a Group Survey Standard applicable to all quarry operations

Requirements:

• B.Sc. / B.Tech. / National Diploma in Surveying, Mine Surveying or equivalent
• Professional registration, or eligibility to register, with the relevant SA professional body
• Drone / UAV surveying certification
• 5–10 years’ surveying experience, including at least 3 years in mining, quarrying or open‑pit operations
• Demonstrable experience with production and stockpile surveys
• Experience with mine planning software, GIS, CAD and Virtual Surveyor
• Valid driver’s licence
• Experience across multiple quarry sites highly advantageous
