Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a vigilant Mine Safety Inspector in Rustenburg to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, conduct inspections, and identify hazards to maintain a safe workplace for all personnel.

You will investigate incidents, train staff, monitor legislation, and advise site management on safety improvements, supporting a zero-harm culture and robust safety performance across operations.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
• Certified Mine Safety Professional or equivalent certification.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine safety inspection and management.
• Thorough knowledge of mining operations, safety equipment, and emergency procedures.
• Excellent understanding of South African mining safety legislation.
• Strong observational skills, attention to detail, and reporting capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine safety inspections of all mining areas and related facilities.
• Identify unsafe conditions and enforce safety regulations and procedures.
• Investigate all mine accidents, injuries, and near misses with detailed reports and recommendations.
• Develop and implement safety training programs for mine personnel.
• Monitor compliance with health and safety legislation and standards.
• Advise management on safety matters and recommend improvements to safety systems.
