Placements24 is seeking an accomplished Mine Manager for a permanent, on-site role near Stellenbosch, Western Cape. You will oversee underground/open-pit operations, safety, planning, and people management to drive profitability and production targets.

The ideal candidate has 10–15 years in mine operations with 5+ years in senior leadership, and holds a Mining Engineering degree (MBA a plus). relocation to the site is expected.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the overall management of the mine, including production, planning, safety, environmental compliance, and human resources. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of mine operations, including underground/open-pit mining, processing, and maintenance.
• Develop and implement strategic mine plans to meet production targets and financial objectives.
• Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
• Manage and mentor the mine's operational leadership team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, or a related field.
• A Master's degree or MBA is advantageous.
• Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in mine operations, with at least 5 years in a senior management role (e.g., Mine Superintendent, Operations Manager).
• Proven experience in managing large-scale mining operations, preferably in relevant commodities.
• Extensive knowledge of mine planning, production, safety regulations, and environmental management.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, control costs, and drive profitability.
• Experience with diverse stakeholder engagement and community relations.
• Proficiency in mine management software and systems.
• Professional registration (e.g., Pr.Eng, Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency) is essential.
• Ability to relocate and commit to an on-site role.
