Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive maintenance strategies for all mining equipment, including mobile fleet and fixed plant.
• Lead, mentor, and manage the maintenance team, including supervisors, mechanics, and technicians.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted safely and in compliance with relevant regulations and company policies.
• Optimize maintenance schedules and procedures to maximize equipment availability and minimize downtime.
• Manage the maintenance budget, controlling costs associated with labor, parts, and external services.
• Oversee the inventory and management of spare parts to ensure timely availability and cost-effectiveness.
• Implement and manage a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for tracking work orders, equipment history, and maintenance performance.
• Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to support production targets and project requirements.
• Conduct root cause analysis for equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations related to maintenance activities.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance department.

Requirements

• Degree or National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in maintenance management, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role within the heavy equipment or mining industry.
• Proven experience in managing maintenance for a large fleet of mining equipment (e.g., excavators, haul trucks, dozers, crushers).
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, hydraulics, and preventative maintenance techniques.
• Proficiency in using CMMS software (e.g., SAP PM, Oracle, Maximo).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations applicable to mining maintenance.
• Ability to manage budgets and control maintenance expenditures effectively.
• Experience working in demanding operational environments, such as those found in the Northern Cape.
