Job summary

Placements24 in South Africa near Kimberley is seeking a Mine Geologist with expertise in resource estimation to lead robust geological modeling and reserve classification. You will work with drill, logging and assay data to build reliable models and apply estimation techniques.

The ideal candidate has a MSc in Geology or Geostatistics, 5+ years’ experience in resource estimation for diamond or other minerals, and proficiency with Leapfrog Geo, Datamine, Snowden Suite or Isatis.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geology, Geostatistics, or related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 5 years of resource estimation experience for diamond or other minerals.
• Proficiency with geological modeling and resource estimation software.
• Solid understanding of geostatistical principles and their practical application.
• Experience in data quality control and validation.
• Excellent analytical, report writing, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate geological block models from drill data and logs.
• Apply geostatistical methods to estimate resources and reserves.
• Perform sensitivity analyses and uncertainty assessments.
• Prepare technical reports per industry standards (JORC, NI 43-101).
• Collaborate with mine planning engineers, geologists, and consultants.
• Stay current with advancements in geological modeling software and techniques.
