Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Mine Geologist near Stellenbosch to map, logging cores, sample collection and model geological data to support ore delineation and mine planning.

The role involves working with mine operations and engineering teams, using Leapfrog and ArcGIS for geological modeling, and ensuring safety and quality in field activities. A Bachelor's in Geology and at least 3 years' mining experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or Earth Sciences.
• Minimum 3 years of geologist experience in mining/exploration.
• Proficient in mapping, core logging and sampling.
• Experience with Leapfrog and ArcGIS.
• Good communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Geological mapping, sampling, and surveys to delineate ore bodies and assess structures.
• Log and interpret diamond drill core, rock chip, and other samples.
• Develop geological models using Leapfrog/ArcGIS to support resource estimates.
• Collaborate with mine planning and production teams for development input.
• Monitor geological conditions in active workings and report changes.
• Ensure safety protocols in all field and logging activities.
