Job summary

AGC Mining Recruitment Pty Ltd is seeking a Junior Geologist for a Northern Cape mining project. The role focuses on expanding iron ore resources using remote sensing, mapping, and 3D modelling, with data updates from drilling and blast-hole data to build accurate mining models.

Responsibilities include geological services, core sampling, software/database administration, mine planning, grade control, and SHERQ compliance. A one-year experience in geology and mining is preferred.

Qualifications

• BSc Hons in Geology or related field (NQF Level 8).
• Minimum of one year operational geology and exploration experience.
• Minimum of one year operational surface mining experience.
• Minimum of one year fragmentation analysis and PSD experience.
• Valid EB/B driver's license.
• Legal Appointment - 2.9.2 Appointment.

About the job Geologist - Mining - Northern Cape

Our client, a leading mining company in the Northern Cape, is seeking a dynamic and qualified Junior Geologist to join their team. The ideal candidate will assist and expand iron ore resources by applying scientific methods such as remote sensing, geophysics, geological mapping, exploration drilling and representing data in 3D models, assist in updating of current models using secondary drilling, pit mapping and blast-hole data to deliver an accurate mining model as well as covering of the value chain from reserve to planning to final product by optimizing grade and fragmentation, which includes but not limited to:

• Geological services
• Core sampling and logging
• Geological software and database administration
• Mine planning
• Grade control
• Monitoring and reporting,
• SHERQ adherence and compliance and Work Ethics

Desired Qualifications and Experience

• BSc Hons in Geology or related fields (NQF Level 8)
• Minimum of one (1) year operational general geology and exploration experience
• Minimum of one (1) year operational surface mining / opencast mining experience
• Minimum of one (1) year operational fragmentation analysis and PSD experience (Recommended)
• Drivers license - Valid Code EB/B driver's license
• Legal Appointment - 2.9.2 Appointment

Accreditation & Registration

• Geological Society of SA is advantageous
• South African Council for Natural Scientists is advantageous
