Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Mine Geologist to join our client’s team in Gauteng. The role blends field and office work, focusing on exploration, data analysis, and robust resource modeling to support mine design and production.

The successful candidate will conduct geological mapping, data interpretation, and 3D modeling, collaborating with engineers and geoscientists to target drilling and advance resource definition. A 5+ year track record in mineral exploration or mine geology is desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or Earth Sciences.
• 5+ years of experience in mineral exploration or mine geology.
• Proficiency in Leapfrog, Vulcan, Surpac.
• Solid understanding of geostatistics and resource estimation techniques.
• Experience with gold, platinum group metals, or base metals exploration is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct geological mapping, sampling, and core logging for exploration and resource definition programs.
• Interpret geological data from surface mapping, drill core, and geophysical surveys.
• Develop and manage 3D geological models using Leapfrog, Vulcan, or Surpac.
• Perform resource estimation using geostatistical methods.
• Collaborate with mine planning engineers to provide geological input for mine design and production.
• Identify potential drilling targets and design exploration drilling programs.
• Maintain accurate geological databases and ensure data integrity.
• Prepare geological reports, presentations, and recommendations for management.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in geological techniques and technologies.
