Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Mine Geologist specializing in resource estimation near Stellenbosch, Western Cape. You will collect, model, and interpret geological data, applying geostatistical methods to deliver robust resources for mine planning and value definition.

The role requires a geology degree (MSc preferred) and 5+ years of mine geology experience with strong data modelling skills. Hybrid work enables field and desk analysis close to Stellenbosch.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology or Earth Sciences.
• 5+ years experience in mine geology with emphasis on resource estimation and modelling.
• Proficiency with Leapfrog Geo, Vulcan, Surpac, ioGAS or similar software.
• Strong understanding of geostatistical principles and their application to resource estimation.
• Experience interpreting drill cores, assay results, and geophysical logs.

Responsibilities

• Collect, validate and interpret geological data from exploration drilling and sampling.
• Develop and maintain geological models and databases using specialized software.
• Apply geostatistical methods to estimate resources and reserves.
• Prepare geological reports including resource and reserve statements for reporting.
• Collaborate with mine planning engineers and geoscientists to integrate models into designs.
• Conduct site visits and supervise field data collection.
