Placements24 is seeking a Senior Metallurgist to oversee metallurgical operations at a processing facility near Centurion. You will lead a team of metallurgists and technicians, optimize metal recovery, and drive product quality across all processing stages.

The role requires a strong background in flotation and leaching, experience with process simulation software, and proven leadership in a multidisciplinary environment. A relocation package and career advancement opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Honours or Master's degree in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering.
• At least 7 years of progressive experience in mineral processing metallurgy.
• In-depth knowledge of flotation, leaching, and refining processes.
• Experience with process simulation software (METSIM, JKSimMet).

Responsibilities

• Monitor and optimize metallurgical plant operations to improve recovery and efficiency.
• Conduct test work and pilot plant trials to evaluate new process technologies.
• Troubleshoot issues and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and implement SOPs for the plant.
• Lead and mentor a team of metallurgists and lab technicians.
• Prepare performance reports for senior management.
