Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Metallurgist to join an advanced processing plant near Centurion, South Africa. The role focuses on optimizing mineral recovery, improving concentrate grades, and leveraging metallurgical techniques and process control to drive performance.

You will lead a team of metallurgists and technicians, collaborate with geology and operations, and apply lab and pilot-scale testing to evaluate new technologies, while mentoring staff and delivering performance-based

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience in mineral processing plant operations and design.
• Expertise in metallurgical processing of commodities (e.g., gold, platinum, base metals).
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency with metallurgical simulation and modeling software.
• Excellent understanding of process control systems and laboratory analysis techniques.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and optimize metallurgical processes for mineral recovery, focusing on flotation , leaching, or other relevant techniques.
• Conduct laboratory and pilot plant test work to evaluate new process technologies and improvements.
• Monitor plant performance data, troubleshoot operational issues, and implement corrective actions to ensure optimal recovery and grade.
• Manage and mentor a team of metallurgists and technicians, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with geology and operations teams to align processing strategies with ore characteristics and mine plans.
