Job summary

Kontak Recruitment is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to support the design, execution and on-site delivery of mechanical projects across South Africa and the African continent, including installation, commissioning and handover. The role combines mechanical design, project engineering and fault-finding, with client engagement and travel for approximately four to six weeks per project.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3-5 years' experience in mechanical engineering and/or project engineering focused on rotating equipment.
• Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Inventor - essential.
• Experience supporting or managing mechanical projects from design through to commissioning.
• Confident communicating with clients, contractors and senior stakeholders.
• Willing and able to travel nationally and across Africa for ~4–6 weeks per project.
• Able to work independently and in a multidisciplinary project team.
• Valid driver's licence and own reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Assist with mechanical engineering design and development of technical solutions.
• Produce and review mechanical drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
• Support planning and execution of projects from inception to installation and commissioning.
• Conduct fault-finding, investigations and root-cause analysis.
• Monitor project progress, technical requirements, quality standards and deadlines.
• Prepare technical reports, project documentation and client feedback.
• Participate in quality assurance and ensure compliance with project standards.
• Develop opportunities for system optimization and liaise with clients and teams.
