Job summary

CA Mining seeks a Project Engineer for an established OEM in the grinding mill space to own engineering disciplines from order through workshop, truck, mine site, and operation. Responsibilities include cost/schedule/scope ownership, quality control, and coordinating suppliers to site.

The role requires a mechanical/metallurgical engineering degree with 3–8 years’ mining experience, exposure to grinding mills and related equipment, and willingness to travel within South Africa.

Qualifications

• Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering degree is required.
• 3–8 years' experience in mining or minerals processing, ideally with an equipment supplier or OEM.
• Exposure to comminution or heavy rotating equipment (mills, crushers, screens, feeders, mill gearing or liners).
• Demonstrable involvement in installation and commissioning on site (C1–C4 or equivalent).
• Willing and able to travel to sites within South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Establish inspection criteria and review quality control plans.
• Manage suppliers, fabricators and subcontractors through fabrication, FAT and dispatch.
• Coordinate freight, packing, shipping documentation and delivery to site.

• Resolve site technical queries and manage deviations.
• Progress reporting and project closeout.

Our client is an established OEM in the grinding mill space, supplying new mills, OEM spares and mill site services into the African mining industry.

They are looking for a Project Engineer to own the engineering and technical disciplines on assigned projects, taking a package from order, through the workshop, onto a truck, to a mine site, and into operation.

Requirements

This role is probably not for you if

your experience is primarily in detailed design and CAD, applications or pre-sales equipment selection, process or plant metallurgy, or planning and scheduling.
