Placements24 is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. The role focuses on design, prototyping, and testing of innovative mechanical systems using SolidWorks or CATIA.

You will collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and QA teams to ensure manufacturability and robust performance. The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in mechanical engineering, proficiency in CAD software, and a hands-on approach to design validation and tooling development.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 3-5 years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Proficiency in CAD software, such as SolidWorks or CATIA.
• Solid understanding of materials science and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with prototyping and testing methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Willing to work on-site in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal.

Responsabilidades

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using CAD software.
• Create detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and QA teams to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.
• Perform tolerance analysis and stress calculations.
• Develop and execute test plans for prototypes and production parts.
• Troubleshoot design issues and implement solutions.
• Research new materials and manufacturing processes and contribute to design standards.
