Placements24 is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for our Richards Bay operation. You will design process equipment, develop components, and perform stress, thermal, and vibration analyses to ensure safety and reliability.

Hybrid work model combines on-site collaboration with remote design tasks. You will create CAD models, prepare drawings and BOMs, and work with manufacturing and project teams to deliver cost-effective solutions for heavy industrial applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 6+ years of mechanical design experience in process equipment or heavy machinery.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or Inventor and FEA tools.
• Strong knowledge of ASME/API codes.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities in a hybrid environment.
• Experience in the petrochemical/chemical industry is advantageous.

Responsabilités

• Design and develop mechanical systems and components for process equipment using CAD software.
• Perform stress, thermal, and vibrational analyses to ensure design integrity and safety.
• Create detailed manufacturing drawings, specifications, and BOMs.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, procurement, and project teams to ensure feasible, cost-effective designs.
• Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, and technical evaluations.
• Support fabrication, assembly, and commissioning phases of new equipment.
• Troubleshoot design-related issues and propose effective solutions.
• Ensure compliance with ASME/API and related standards.
• Research and recommend new materials and technologies to improve performance.
