Placements24 is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Pretoria, Gauteng, to design and develop mechanical components and enclosures for consumer electronics. You will work across concept to prototyping, with a hybrid work model in Pretoria and cross-functional collaboration with design, electrical and software teams.

The role emphasizes robust design, drafting detailed drawings, and staying current with new materials and processes to ensure manufacturability and product excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 4 years' experience in mechanical design.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software: SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Inventor.
• Experience with plastics/metals manufacturing processes (injection molding, CNC).

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical parts, assemblies, and enclosures for consumer electronics.
• Create detailed 2D drawings and specs for manufacturing.
• Conduct design analysis (stress, thermal, drop testing) for durability.
• Collaborate with industrial designers, electrical engineers and software teams.
