Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer with a focus on consumer electronics to join their client’s team in Nelspruit (Mbombela). You will design mechanical components and enclosures, drive manufacturability and aesthetics, and collaborate across disciplines from concept to mass production.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, at least 5 years in consumer electronics design, and proficiency in SolidWorks or Creo with CAE tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design in consumer electronics
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks/Creo) and CAE tools
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes like injection molding and stamping
• Experience with product development cycles for consumer electronics
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and enclosures for consumer electronic devices using 3D CAD software.
• Optimize designs for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, reliability, and aesthetics.
• Conduct tolerance analysis, stress simulations, and thermal management studies for electronic products.
• Collaborate closely with industrial designers to translate concepts into practical, manufacturable designs.
• Work with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers and firmware developers, to ensure system integration.
• Prepare detailed technical documentation, drawings, and specifications for prototyping and mass production.
