Job summary

Crew Life at Sea Ltd. seeks an experienced Baker/ Pastry Chef to lead practical and theoretical bakery training aboard maritime hospitality operations. You will design modules, mentor cadets, and ensure top-quality pastries and breads for onboard service.

Candidates must have professional baking credentials, strong leadership, and the ability to teach both hands-on and classroom concepts in a maritime setting. Maritime culinary standards knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a professional baker or pastry chef with expertise in a variety of baking techniques.
• Relevant baking or culinary qualifications/certifications.
• Certified South African ID and based in Cape Town.
• Strong communication, mentorship, and leadership skills.
• Ability to teach practical and theoretical concepts in a training environment.
• Passion for teaching and developing maritime culinary professionals.
• Knowledge of maritime culinary standards is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Deliver practical and theoretical bakery training covering bread, pastries, desserts, and other baked goods suitable for maritime hospitality environments.
• Develop and implement training modules, lesson plans, and assessments tailored to trainees.
• Mentor trainees on baking techniques, presentation, and quality control.
• Evaluate trainee performance regularly and provide constructive feedback.
• Ensure compliance with maritime food safety, hygiene, and quality standards.
• Collaborate with other trainers to maintain a structured, high-quality training environment.
• Foster a positive, professional, and motivating atmosphere that encourages learning and teamwork.
• Act as a role model for professionalism, creativity, and excellence in baking within a maritime setting.
