Job summary

Placements24 in Randburg is seeking a pragmatic Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer to optimize production processes and enhance efficiency at the on-site facility. You will apply mechanical engineering principles to troubleshoot production issues, design tooling, and implement process improvements across manufacturing lines.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work closely with production staff, quality control, and maintenance

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing/production engineering.
• Strong knowledge of machining, assembly and material handling.
• Proficiency with CAD software for tooling/fixtures design.
• Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience advantageous.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze manufacturing processes to identify efficiency, cost reduction and quality improvements.
• Design, fabricate and implement tooling, jigs and fixtures to support production needs.
• Troubleshoot mechanical failures and bottlenecks with effective solutions.
• Collaborate with maintenance to establish preventative maintenance schedules for critical machinery.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and contribute to a safe working environment.
• Assist in evaluating and implementing new manufacturing technologies and equipment.
