Job summary

Sibanye Stillwater SA Region is seeking a seasoned Mining/Engineering Training Manager to lead and oversee the Technical Training discipline within the Operations. The role focuses on designing discipline structures, driving performance, and ensuring safety and transformation across the business unit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or advanced diploma in Engineering (NQF7) is required.
• Mine Managers certificate of competence or Government certificate of competence.
• Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience, including at least 3 years in a management role.
• Medical fitness to work in the mining environment.
• Valid driver’s license if applicable; clear security screening record.

Responsibilities

• Design Operations’ discipline structure to support the organisational mandate.
• Review and approve labour plans around operational targets.
• Provide leadership and drive high performance.
• Manage performance and development of reporting staff.
• Set discipline targets aligned with organisational goals.
• Drive transformation, safety, and culture within the operation.
• Oversee financial management, budgeting and cost control.
• Source, contract and negotiate with service providers.
• Develop and manage Technical Training programs and measures.
• Assess business requirements for Training needs and delivery.
• Ensure QA, SETA and ISO compliance for Training.

• Stakeholder Relations
• Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and externally at all levels and cross-functionally.
• Ensuring open communication channels with all relevant stakeholders.
• Sourcing, contracting and negotiating with service providers.
• Liaising with the necessary entities on any environmental management related requirements and alignment where applicable.
• Collaborating with external service providers regarding the design and implementation of tools to enhance processes.
• Technical Training Management
• Manage the Technical Training discipline and teams in order to ensure optimal delivery of services.
• Assess business requirements and determine Technical Training needs.
• Determine needs for the design of new Technical Training programs or the customisation and tailoring of generic Technical Training programmes.
• Determine appropriate organisational needs analysis methodology/systems to identify the skills needs of the organisation (skills audits, skills surveys, etc.).
• Analyse the results of the organisational needs analysis and make suitable recommendations.
• Review existing programmes and courses to determine deficiencies and gaps.
• Research new Technical Training methodologies, systems and practices that will enhance and optimize services beyond current stated objectives.
• Research and benchmark Technical Training systems and processes against industry standards.Develop and manage new policies and procedures and maintain and update existing policies and procedures according to the QMS procedures.
• Manage Training Quality Assurance systems and processes and ensure compliance with all statutory requirements (DMR, SETA, MQA and NAMB).
• Conduct internal audits within the Training Quality Management System and ensure SETA accreditation and ISO certification is maintained.
• Design and develop instruments to evaluate education, training and development effectiveness.
• Measure Return On Investment (ROI) in training.
• Drive a culture of Learning and Continuous Improvement within the Technical Training discipline in order to ensure achievement of organisational objectives.
• Determine internship, learnerships and bursary requirements based on the Social & Labour Plan (SLP).

• To manage and oversee the implementation and management of Mining, Engineering and Technical Training systems and processes at the Sibanye Stillwater SA Region in an effective and efficient manner.
