Job summary

Pick n Pay is seeking a capable leader to head the General Merchandise department in delivering strong sales, stock availability, and an outstanding customer experience through effective stock management and merchandising.

You will lead, coach, and develop a capable team while driving promotions, controlling expenses, and maintaining store standards to ensure excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Matric / Grade 12 required.
• 2–4 years' retail experience.
• Managerial experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Merchandise management: ensure stock availability and presentation.
• Drive sales performance and coordinate promotions.
• Monitor departmental expenses and complete admin processes.
• Ensure smooth day-to-day operations and store standards.
• Lead, coach, and develop team members.
• Deliver excellent customer service and resolve queries.
• Monitor stock losses and enforce security procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Merchandise Management
  Ensure effective merchandising, stock availability, and product presentation
  Execute promotions and maintain merchandising standards
• Sales & Promotions
  Drive sales performance and achieve departmental targets
  Coordinate and execute promotional activities
• Finance & Administration
  Monitor and control departmental expenses
  Ensure accurate and timely completion of administrative processes
• Operations & Maintenance
  Ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the department
  Maintain equipment and store standards

  Monitor and control stock losses and shrinkage
  Ensure adherence to security procedures
