The Role: Maintenance Supervisor
Job Profile
The incumbent is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the maintenance, repair, and general upkeep of Henry Fagan (Pty) Ltd’s offices, facilities, and infrastructure. The role will ensure that all maintenance requirements are attended to efficiently and that the working environment remains safe, functional, and operational.
The incumbent is accountable for:
- Coordinating preventative and reactive maintenance activities across company offices and facilities.
- Ensuring that maintenance issues, repairs, and breakdowns are attended to timeously.
- Conducting routine inspections to identify maintenance requirements and potential risks.
- Coordinating and monitoring external contractors and service providers where specialised services are required.
- Providing general maintenance and handyman support to ensure a safe and functional working environment.
This position reports to: Corporate Services Manager / Office Manager
The incumbent will primarily be based at the Head Office but may be required to travel to other Henry Fagan offices and project sites from time to time. The role may also require after-hours or weekend work to attend to emergency maintenance requirements or critical operational issues.
Responsibilities
General Maintenance
- Perform and coordinate general maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of company offices, buildings, and facilities.
- Attend to day-to-day maintenance requests and ensure that issues are resolved within reasonable timeframes.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance requirements, defects, and potential safety risks.
- Perform minor repairs relating to electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, fixtures, and general building maintenance where capable and authorised to do so.
- Escalate specialised maintenance requirements to the relevant contractors or service providers.
Maintenance Coordination
- Develop and maintain preventative maintenance schedules for company facilities and equipment.
- Coordinate reactive maintenance and repairs to minimise operational disruptions.
- Liaise with external contractors for specialised maintenance, repairs, and installations.
- Monitor maintenance activities to ensure work is completed according to the required standards.
- Maintain maintenance records, service histories, and registers of completed repairs and outstanding requirements.
Building Services and Infrastructure
- Monitor the general condition and functionality of office infrastructure and building services.
- Coordinate maintenance relating to electrical installations, plumbing, HVAC systems, generators, water systems, security infrastructure, and other building services.
- Ensure that essential services and facilities remain functional and operational.
- Report major defects, equipment failures, and infrastructure concerns to management.
- Assist with office improvements, renovations, relocations, and infrastructure-related projects where required.
Health, Safety and Compliance
- Identify and report maintenance‑related health and safety risks.
- Ensure that maintenance activities are performed in accordance with applicable safety requirements and company procedures.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify potential hazards and maintenance concerns.
- Ensure that contractors comply with relevant site safety requirements while performing work on company premises.
- Support the implementation of corrective actions arising from maintenance inspections or incidents.
Contractor and Service Provider Coordination
- Liaise with contractors and service providers regarding maintenance and repair requirements.
- Obtain and coordinate quotations for maintenance work where required.
- Monitor the quality and completion of work performed by contractors.
- Report contractor performance concerns and recurring maintenance issues to management.
- Verify completed work before submitting invoices or supporting documentation for approval.
Operational Support
- Provide general maintenance support to employees and business operations.
- Assist with office moves, workspace changes, renovations, and related maintenance requirements.
- Coordinate maintenance requirements relating to office furniture, fixtures, equipment, and general infrastructure.
- Support the maintenance and functionality of cleaning, security, access control, and other operational services.
- Respond to urgent maintenance requirements and operational breakdowns when required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 3–5 years' relevant experience in general maintenance, building maintenance, electrical maintenance, or a similar role.
- A certificate, trade qualification, diploma, or other relevant qualification in maintenance, building, or related fields will be advantageous.
- Practical experience in general building maintenance and repairs.
- Experience coordinating contractors and external service providers will be advantageous.
- Basic understanding of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements.
- Valid driver's licence will be advantageous.

- Practical experience in general maintenance and repairs.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and building maintenance.
- Ability to identify faults and coordinate appropriate repairs.
- Working knowledge of building services such as HVAC, electrical installations, plumbing, generators, and security systems.
- Ability to use basic hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to interpret contractor quotations, maintenance requirements, and basic technical documentation.
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) – basic to proficient.
- Experience maintaining maintenance records and registers will be advantageous.
