Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Refrigerated Truck Driver for long-haul routes based in Mossel Bay, Western Cape. You will operate a Class 1 heavy-duty vehicle equipped for refrigerated transport, ensuring temperature control and on-time deliveries across South Africa.

The role requires independence, reliability, and strict safety adherence. You will conduct pre-trip/post-trip inspections, maintain detailed logs, and communicate with dispatch regarding progress and challenges.

Qualifications

• Proven long-haul trucking experience with refrigerated vehicles.
• Knowledge of operating and monitoring refrigeration units and temperature control systems.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively on the road.
• Physical fitness to handle loading/unloading tasks as required.

Responsibilities

• Operate Class 1 heavy-duty refrigerated trucks on long-haul routes.
• Maintain correct temperature throughout transit and record readings.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicle and refrigeration unit.
• Load/unload refrigerated cargo safely and manage pallet handling.
• Adhere to traffic laws, safety policies, and delivery schedules.
• Plan efficient routes considering schedules and rest requirements.
• Maintain logs of driving hours, mileage, and deliveries.
• Communicate trip progress and delays to dispatch.
