Job summary

Van der Vyver Transport in South Africa seeks an experienced long-distance driver with a Code 14 license and PDP to join our refrigerated transportation team. You will be responsible for safe, timely delivery over long distances, maintaining loads at correct temperatures, and ensuring paperwork is completed accurately.

You should be comfortable spending nights away from home, working long hours, and representing the company professionally.

Who you are

We are looking for an experienced long-distance driver with extensive heavy-duty truck driving experience within the refrigerated transport industry. You are responsible, safety-conscious, reliable and you take pride in looking after your vehicle, your load and the customers you serve. You are comfortable working independently, spending long hours on the road and spending nights away from home on a regular basis. You should be trusted to represent Van der Vyver Transport professionally wherever the road takes you.

Your Areas of Responsibility

• Transport refrigerated goods and other loads safely to customers and delivery points over long distances.
• Ensure loads are delivered within the required schedules, and that refrigerated cargo is maintained at the correct temperature where applicable.
• Ensure that all delivery documentation, trip sheets, and other required paperwork are completed and submitted correctly.
• Conduct daily vehicle and trailer inspections and report any defects immediately.
• Always ensure safe and responsible driving, and take proper care of the vehicle, trailer and cargo.
• Communicate effectively with the operations team, clients and relevant operational staff.
• Comply with company policies, road traffic regulations, health and safety standards and customer requirements.

Key Requirements

• Valid Code 14 Driver's License with a valid PDP.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in heavy-duty and/or long-distance driving.
• Previous experience in refrigerated and/or temperature-controlled transport.
• Must be willing and able to work long and irregular hours, including weekends, public holidays and overtime when required.
• Must be willing and able to spend nights away from home on a regular basis due to long-distance trips.
• A valid passport will be advantageous.
• Good communication skills and a professional attitude.
• Must be reliable, punctual and safety conscious.
