Qualifications

  • Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or Logistics (or similar).
  • 5+ years in Logistics Scheduling, Dispatch or Expediting Control.
  • Experience with loading/offloading methods in transport environments.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SAP.
  • SAP TMS experience is advantageous.
  • Strong scheduling, planning, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule transport across the value chain, including stock orders and deliveries.
  • Compile optimal loading and delivery schedules.
  • Source capacity and allocate loads to transporters (own fleet and 3PLs).
  • Generate SAP documentation and loading instructions.
  • Ensure permits and supplier compliance with safety and rules.
  • Monitor schedule execution and adapt to changes.
  • Drive cost containment and service level improvements.
  • Report on performance against targets.

Job description

Our client in the mining sector is recruiting for a Logistics Scheduler to join their Supply Chain Operations team. The role focuses on scheduling transport across the value chain, covering both stock transport orders and customer deliveries, local and cross-border, while ensuring effective use of resources, customer service, and cost containment.

The successful candidate must be immediately available and will form part of the Operations: Supply Chain team, working closely with transporters, internal stakeholders, and clients to ensure seamless logistics execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule transport across the value chain, covering stock transport orders and customer deliveries, local and cross-border.
  • Compile optimal loading and delivery schedules.
  • Source capacity and allocate loads to transporters (own fleet and 3PLs) to ensure effective resource use, customer service, and cost containment.
  • Generate SAP documentation, including shipments and loading instructions.
  • Ensure transporters have the necessary documentation for loading, and that correct and valid transport permits are in place.
  • Ensure supplier compliance with safety rules, business rules, and scheduling parameters.
  • Continuously track schedule execution and adherence.
  • Conduct dynamic rescheduling and re-planning to accommodate constant changes in market or business requirements.
  • Implement corrective controls to achieve schedule demands regardless of changing circumstances.
  • Monitor demurrage charges from 3PLs.
  • Continuously reduce cost and improve service levels within the constraints of business rules and safety requirements.
  • Identify gaps and implement improvements to business and scheduling rules.
  • Report on performance by tracking unit and truck outcomes against targets.
  • Maintain the implemented unit operations plan by understanding key activities, projects, and performance indicators, communicating objectives to relevant stakeholders, and monitoring execution daily.
  • Monitor implementation of unit business processes by monitoring compliance, identifying process anomalies, and executing corrective action as required.
  • Drive effective utilization and continuous development of unit systems.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures and keep updated with newly implemented procedures.
Requirements

Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or Logistics (or similar)

5+ years in Logistics Scheduling or Dispatch and Expediting Control experience.

Experience in different loading/offloading methods applicable to the transportation environment.

Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SAP.

SAP TMS experience (advantageous).

Strong scheduling and planning skills.

Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Problem-solving and corrective action capability.

Attention to detail and commitment to safety and compliance.
