Job summary

Methodist Homes is seeking a Village Enrolled Nurse for a live-in position at Elandshaven Retirement Village. You will monitor resident wellbeing, identify concerns early, and provide professional oversight to care workers. This role may suit an experienced nurse seeking a part-time, active role while staying SANC registered.

Working hours include 25 hours per week with on-site and on-call shifts; accommodation is provided and the position requires weekend/on-call coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• Matric/Grade 12 and nursing qualification required.
• Diploma/Certificate for Enrolled Nurse is mandatory.
• Geriatric nursing qualification or experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assess new residents and complete annual assessments of Village residents.
• Monitor residents' physical, psychological and general wellbeing, recording changes and identifying concerns early.
• Ensure daily resident check-ins, maintain emergency information and support emergency readiness, including panic-button checks.
• Ensure nursing tasks and care standards comply with South African nursing requirements.
• Identify and report incidents, medico-legal risks and health and safety concerns in residents' environments.
• Help residents and families arrange additional care when needed, including care-worker support or transfer to an appropriate Care Unit.
• Supervise and guide Village and private caregivers, carry out spot checks and communicate concerns to management and families.
• Provide health education to residents and families while maintaining dignity and privacy.
