About the Role

Our client, a dedicated provider of comprehensive care services for seniors, is seeking a compassionate and experienced Elderly Care Specialist to join their team in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga . This role is central to ensuring the highest quality of life for elderly individuals, providing personalised support, companionship, and assistance with daily living activities. You will be responsible for developing care plans, monitoring resident well-being, and coordinating with families and healthcare professionals. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement personalised care plans for elderly clients based on individual needs and preferences.
• Provide direct assistance with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and medication reminders.
• Offer companionship and engage clients in social, recreational, and therapeutic activities.
• Monitor the health and well-being of clients, identifying and reporting any changes or concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Liaise regularly with clients' families, providing updates on their condition and care.
• Coordinate with healthcare providers, physicians, and therapists to ensure integrated care.
• Maintain accurate and confidential client records and care documentation.
• Ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable living environment for all clients.
• Assist with mobility and transfers, employing safe techniques.
• Advocate for the rights and dignity of elderly clients.

Requirements

• A qualification in Nursing, Gerontology, Social Work, or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in elderly care, aged care facilities, or home-based care.
• Demonstrated understanding of common age-related conditions and challenges (e.g., dementia, mobility issues).
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and listening skills.
• Patience, empathy, compassion, and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a care team.
• Proficiency in basic health monitoring and first aid.
• Willingness to undergo background checks and provide professional references.
• Familiarity with the Nelspruit, Mpumalanga area and local resources for seniors is an advantage.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including some weekends, as needed for the role.
