Job summary

Placements24, on behalf of a dynamic renewable energy client, is seeking a Legal Advisor to work remotely across South Africa. The role focuses on drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, ensuring compliance and protecting the company’s interests.

You will collaborate with business development, procurement, and project management to support expansion and operations, handling dispute resolution as needed and contributing to contract management processes.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of SA with 4+ years’ post-qualification experience in commercial contract law.
• Experience drafting and negotiating a variety of complex commercial agreements.
• In-depth knowledge of South African contract law and related commercial legislation.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote setting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with clear explanations of complex legal concepts.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements (supply, service, partnership, NDAs).
• Provide legal advice on contractual risks, obligations, and compliance matters.
• Ensure contracts align with policies, legal requirements, and industry best practices.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders to understand contractual needs and provide practical solutions.
• Assist in contract management processes and templates.
• Conduct legal research on contract law and regulatory issues in renewables.
• Support the legal team in dispute resolution and litigation related to contracts.

Requirements

• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines effectively in a remote setting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating legal risks.
• Experience within the energy sector or a related industry is advantageous.
• Proficiency in legal research and contract management software is a plus.
