Placements24 is partnering with a growing renewable energy entity to hire a meticulous Legal Advisor based in Kimberley, Northern Cape. The role focuses on commercial, energy, and environmental law within a project-driven environment.

You will counsel development teams, finance, and external stakeholders on contracts, compliance, and risk management. The ideal candidate holds an LLB and SA admission with at least 4 years post-qualification experience, and demonstrates strong drafting,

Qualifications

• Must hold LLB degree and be admitted in South Africa.
• Minimum 4 years post-qualification experience in commercial, energy, or environmental law.
• Experience drafting and reviewing commercial agreements.
• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on renewable energy project development, including land acquisition, permitting, and regulatory approvals.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts such as PPAs, EPC contracts, and O&M agreements.
• Ensure compliance with South African energy sector regulations, environmental laws, and local bylaws.
• Conduct legal research and provide analysis on policy changes and legal risks affecting the renewable energy industry.
• Assist in managing dispute resolution and litigation related to project activities.
• Support corporate governance requirements and statutory filings.
• Advise on risk management strategies for project implementation and operations.
• Liaise with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and external legal experts.
