Job summary

Placements24 is assisting a leading automotive manufacturer in George, Western Cape to recruit a Process Improvement Engineer focused on lean initiatives and waste reduction. This hands-on role requires close collaboration with production teams to implement data-driven improvements on the manufacturing floor.

You will drive process optimization, establish SOPs, conduct time studies and line balancing, and ensure safety and quality standards while delivering measurable efficiency gains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 4 years' progressive experience in process improvement within automotive manufacturing.
• Expertise in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies; Green Belt preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with data interpretation ability.
• Experience with simulation software, SPC and MES desirable.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities for process optimization and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality across production lines.
• Apply Lean Six Sigma methodologies to reduce waste, eliminate non-value-added activities, and improve workflow.
• Analyze production data, identify root causes of issues, and develop data-driven solutions.
• Design and implement new manufacturing processes or modify existing ones to meet changing demands.
• Collaborate closely with production supervisors, line workers, and management teams to achieve operational goals.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
• Conduct time studies, capacity planning, and line balancing to optimize resource utilization.
• Manage projects related to process improvements, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budget.
• Ensure all implemented processes comply with safety regulations and quality standards.
• Champion a culture of continuous improvement within the George manufacturing facility.
